Sponsor the Massachusetts Patient Advocacy Alliance in 2018

The Massachusetts Patient Advocacy Alliance (MPAA) represents the coalition which drafted and passed the medical marijuana ballot question and we remain the primary voice of medical marijuana patients at the local, state, and national level within the Commonwealth.  Sponsorships go directly towards fulfilling our goal of expanding safe access in Massachusetts.  We developed our sponsorship program because we want to recognize those organizations and business that support our mission.  We also want our supporters to utilize organizations and businesses that are supporting MPAA.  This program will allow your organization to put funds directly into the movement here in Massachusetts while getting special benefits from MPAA your organization needs to succeed such as publicity and public hearing support.  Our new Access monthly event series will give your business exposure in the patient community by bringing top speakers together with delicious food prepared by local dispensary chefs.  2018 stands to be a pivotal year for the medical marijuana program in the Commonwealth and by being a sponsor of MPAA we can provide support for your organization and for all registered qualifying medical marijuana patients.

WHY SPONSOR MPAA IN 2018?

  1. We have nearly a 100% success rate helping RMDs obtain their letter of non-opposition/support through our advocacy in municipalities ranging from Boston and Cambridge to Springfield and New Bedford.
  2. MPAA can help coordinate patients and consumers to attend Community Outreach Hearings required under adult use regulations for marijuana establishments.
  3. In 2017, MPAA worked with the legislature to craft amendments to Chapter 94I in the compromise legislation that will ensure instant patient access to medical marijuana treatment centers when the Commission takes control of the program in 2018.
  4. MPAA will be proposing intelligent changes to the medical marijuana program that will simplify a wide range of issues facing patients and providers.
  5. MPAA will work to protect the medical marijuana program and medical marijuana patients to ensure there are no further delays or mismanagement of the program during the transition to the Commission.
  6. In 2017, the MPAA successfully lobbied the Department of Public Health to implement that regulatory adjustment to 105.CMR.725 before the program was transferred to the Commission.
  7. We work with local and state governmental bodies to ensure the social welfare of medical marijuana patients, doctors, caregivers, medical professionals, advocates and the general public while developing and implementing laws, policies and regulations related to medical marijuana and its safe use.
  8. Even as the state moves forward with registering dispensaries to operate, many cities and towns are opposed to having registered marijuana dispensaries (RMDs) or cannabis businesses locating in their communities. MPAA is here to protect patients, RMD applicants, and other cannabis businesses from these vulnerabilities. We are the only statewide organization dedicated to medical marijuana reform, and our expertise in policy, public relations, organizing and campaigning is proven.

How does MPAA support RMD applicants and operators?

We organize patients and supporters: MPAA brings patients, caregivers, and providers to the table to work to implement and improve the medical marijuana law as well as attending hearings with local patients to testify on behalf of your RMD or business and also holding educational events in the prospective city to create a strong patient base of support for your RMD or business.

We use the media: We change public perception of medical marijuana by developing effective spokespeople and coordinating public messaging with overall policy and education goals in all media outlets - TV, radio, print, social media, and other web-based publications. MPAA gets the message out.  In 2017 MPAA was mentioned over 29 times in the media!

We build coalitions: We educate the medical and public health communities to remove the stigma of marijuana as medicine. We work with non-profits to identify possible allies and make sure that their support is used most effectively in our outreach campaigns.

We educate policy makers: We bring patients to visit their elected officials, organize individuals and public health groups to participate in public hearings, organize letter writing and phone call campaigns with supporters in key legislative districts. MPAA changes policy.
